A family has been effectively left homeless after an “explosive” blaze killed a 16-year-old boy and left another in an induced coma.

The fire broke out metres from Old Kent Road fire station in a first floor flat on Cooper’s Road, Southwark, on March 18.

One 16-year-old boy, who the News Shopper reported is Tommy Ballay Dean – commonly referred to as Junior Dean – died at the scene.

Another 16-year-old escaped before firefighters arrived and is in hospital with serious face injuries.

I spoke to a close family friend for an exclusive interview following the incident.
